Owner of pit bull shot by Austin police officer says dog was chained
In this news article, the owner stated that their dog was chained up outside their house. They had called the police to report a burglary but apparently Austin police did not show up at their house until 3 hours later. This still doesn’t change the fact that their dog was chained up outside their house. This is perfectly legally and is actually following the law as in the state of Texas all animals must either be secured (by a fence) or be chained up while outside of your home.
So, regardless of this woman following the law a police officer came onto her property and then shot her dog fatally. He claims he felt he was in danger. How can you be in danger of a dog who is chained up? How can you possibly be in danger unless you approach the dog all the way up to where they are chained?
This is just another case of animal cruelty (by an officer of the law!) that isn’t publicized.
